When Doing the Right Thing Hurts: Beau’s Next Chapter

One of the hardest parts of breeding is realizing that a promising cat may not be the right one to continue a program.

For us, that cat is Beau.

Beau showed excellent potential—strong structure, good hips, a beautiful muzzle, and an outstanding temperament. Most of all, he is deeply affectionate and easy to love, which makes this decision especially difficult.

Beau developed entropion, where the eyelid turns inward and irritates the eye. Although it can be surgically corrected and Beau has received appropriate care, we have decided to neuter him and retire him from our breeding program.

We evaluate our cats as a whole, and sometimes a single concern is enough to change a future that once seemed certain.

So Beau’s breeding career will end before it truly began.

But his story is far from over.

We are excited to share that Beau will continue his journey in TICA as an Alter.

The Alter class allows neutered cats to remain in the show ring, and we look forward to seeing him shine there. He will still have the chance to be admired for his presence, type, and personality—reminding everyone that a cat’s value is not defined by reproduction.

Beau doesn’t need kittens to leave his mark on Lynx Town.

He already has.

We are proud of him, we love him deeply, and we are excited to cheer him on in this next chapter. His future is simply different than we once imagined—but still very bright.
